Set on the scenic Catlins coast of New Zealand, The Catlins Area School offers small classes and individualised learning in a safe, caring environment. Our school benefits from a dedicated and well-qualified staff who use a range of teaching and learning techniques to support all learners. The Catlins Area School continues to develop a balance between traditional learning and modern learning opportunities.

Located just 25km from Balclutha we benefit from both rural and town opportunities. We value our fantastic facilities and utilise them to provide tailored learning for students across the Year 0 to Year 13 age and ability range. We are proud of our Area School status and the opportunities this provides for peer leadership and continuity across school-age learning.

Inside and outside of the classroom, on the stage and on sports fields our learners are encouraged to develop wide scope skills and life experiences. We promote a positive attitude towards lifelong learning, community support and involvement.
