Year 10s and the Yellow-Eyed Penguin Trust
Yesterday, the Year 10 students, accompanied by Ms Darmody and Miss Currall, assisted the Yellow Eyed Penguin Trust to plant native trees around their new base at Long Point.
Our students exceeded the expectations for the number of trees planted and even managed to put Combiguards on most of them.
They also had the opportunity to build tracking tunnels that will be put out in the bush near the base to research which predators need to be trapped. The students had a go at identifying tracks including possums, rats, stoats and cats. They will be able to analyse the results from their tracking tunnels in a few weeks and report back to the YEPT.
