Year 10 Camp to Twizel
Read about Charlotte Pitts' experience on the Year 10 camp...
The year 10’s all went on a camp to Twizel, we went to a place called Lake Ruataniwha Rowing Centre which supplied us bunk rooms for the girls and the boys. There were also meals supplied by the camp owners. Some of the activities we enjoyed were rowing, kayaking, swimming, biking, fishing, walking, mini-golf, we also went to Tekapo Springs and visited a salmon farm.
On Monday we left school at 9 am sharp. On the way, we stopped at McDonalds for Miss Currall to get her favourite chicken nuggets. Then when we arrived at the place we had to unpack all the bedding and get all the bunks ready for a busy week. We decided to go to the freezing lake for a swim where we swam for about an hour. Afterwards, we went and had dinner and went to bed. Tuesday was a busy day kind of day; one group had to wake up at 6 am and go rowing. They all said that it was a fun but terrifying time. Then we went for a 39km bike ride in the pouring rain. It was kind of cold on the way there but on the way back it was so fun and fast.
I would definitely do this camp again. If I could change anything I would make the camp for 2 weeks - it was that much fun. The owners were so lovely and caring and their cooking was amazing. I really hope that the next people that go have as much fun and awesome experiences as I did. I just wanted to say thank you to Miss Currall, Mr Samson, Denis and Sue for making this possible. I had an amazing time.
