Room 1's Trip to the Owaka Museum
On Tuesday Room 1 walked down to visit the Owaka Museum and library. Mrs McPhee organised the visit and on our arrival, we met Steph the librarian and Mr McPhee the museum manager.
Steph read us two books and then taught us how to play ‘Pepa, Kutikuiti, Toka’ – paper, scissors, rock in Maori.
Mr McPhee then talked to us about the Museum and we then went on a tour. The children particularly enjoyed the models of the ships that our school houses are named after, the jail, and the old blacksmith building. It was a great experience to see and hear about the Catlins history.
Thank you Mrs McPhee for organising a great trip.
