Country Coaching Term 4
Twice a year coaches from Dunedin travel to country schools within the Otago area for secondary students, introducing either a new sport to the students or upskilling existing sporting skills.
Today TCAS had Ki O Rahi and Handball coaches onsite. Our Year 8-10 students were first up playing Ki O Rahi, which is a sport played at the Southern Area Schools tournament, and from there students can be selected for the National Area Schools Tournament. Meanwhile, the Year 11-13s were in the gym playing Handball.
After 50min of some very competitive action Year 9-10 moved on to Handball in the gym and Year 11-13 along with Mr T and Mrs Lietze, (who couldn't resist getting involved in the Ki O Rahi lesson). Weather conditions were perfect and hopefully the introduction of these sports will encourage some lunchtime games in the future to ensure TCAS has a competitive team Southern Area School Tournament in Twizel next year.
