Chain Reaction Machine House Competition
And the winning House was...
Students from Years 1-13 have collaborated to create Chain Reaction Machines in their House Groups for the first part of this term. Wednesday was the deadline for the entries to be built and ‘set off’ in front of the school audience. The competition was ably judged by Murray Clarke, retired Caretaker of The Catlins Area School. Nora was victorious, with Surat in second place and Manuka picking up the tail end. The winning entry took inspiration from a variety of techniques used in Rube Goldberg Machines such as a flying fox, pulleys and a large scale domino tumble. Congratulations to all students involved, it was a fantastic opportunity to display Science learning across the school, and to hone the key competencies of Relating to Others, Thinking, and Participating and Contributing - all of which back-map into our shared values of Tenacity, Care, Achievement and Service.
