Nat Harrex steps up to the Challenge as Godzone awaits!

Our Sports Co-ordinator Nat has taken on a huge project by signing up to compete in GODZONE next week.

Our very own sports co-ordinator, Nat Harrex, is about to take on the ultimate adventure. One that pushes limits, tests grit, and showcases the kind of dedication that makes her such a standout role model within our school. From months of planning and training to countless hours spent honing her skills, Nat has poured everything into this challenge. We at TCAS couldn’t be prouder, and we’ll be eagerly following her progress online as she heads to Godzone in the Tasman region.

Over 5–8 days, her team will navigate massive mountains, wild rivers, and rugged terrain, following much of the same course as the Godzone Pure teams, which typically consist of three men and one woman. Chosen from hundreds of applicants, the team received a donated $10,000 entry fee from the Merrell Spring Challenge, founded by world champion adventure racer Nathan Fa’avae and his wife Jody, alongside the Pure Adventure Charitable Trust. Nat had no idea the application had even been submitted, but as a self-proclaimed “yes girl,” she now finds herself heading to the Marlborough Sounds on Monday.

The team has spent most weekends training overnight, taking on sessions that include biking, hiking, and packrafting. Each member has also done what they can individually to stay fit and learn the necessary skills. However, with ten children between them, plus jobs and everyday life commitments, they can only hope they’ve done enough to go the distance!

The race begins Thursday the 27th November, with maps issued at 10:30 a.m. and the start line countdown at 3:30 p.m. Team Merrell Spring Challenge will be racing day and night in an effort to complete the 600 km course before it closes.

The most direct way to follow the teams' progress in real-time is using the live-tracking system, available on the official event website. This system allows fans and support crews worldwide to see where each team is located on the course map. The tracking link will be made available on the GODZONE Adventure Race Website closer to or during the event start.

We hope you smash it, Nat, and hit every goal you’ve set. Your whole TCAS whānau is cheering you on, and hopefully you can hear us from here!
