Three Days of Non-Stop Fun at Waihola!

Three Days of Non-Stop Fun at Waihola!

The excitement has been non-stop for Room 19 at the Waihola Youth Camp, resulting in memories they will cherish!

Our adventure began with much excitement anticipation as we arrived, set up our bunk rooms, explored the grounds, and greeted the friendly resident sheep. Our first big activity, Archery Tag, was a massive success, showcasing impressive shooting skills and plenty of fun, friendly competition. After a refreshing break, we braved the challenging waterslide, a thrilling highlight of an afternoon full of laughter and encouragement. Day One concluded with a shared dinner and plenty of outdoor fun cricket, tag, and hide-and-seek before heading to bed.

Day Two kicked off with the early morning buzz from the bunk room, quickly followed by a delicious start thanks to Mr. Preddy's famous eggs! With packed lunches ready, we set off for a brilliant day of activities in Dunedin. The competitive spirit was high at Mini Golf, which proved to be a huge hit. After some incredible putting skills were showcased, Josh's team featuring Carter, Ella, and William emerged victorious overall! We refueled with lunch at the popular Dinosaur Park before heading to the lanes for ten pin bowling. Our final stop was the Moana Pool, where we made a massive splash! From river races and wave jumping to impressive dive-bombing, it was the perfect end to a fun-filled afternoon. We arrived home ready for a well-deserved, hearty dinner of venison burgers, hot chips, and ice cream!

Camp Day Three concluded our memorable trip with a slightly later start following yesterday's huge schedule. After breakfast and some begrudging tidying up, the students headed straight for the assault course. This challenging activity tested everyone’s confidence and put teamwork back on brilliant display. The individual time trials were fierce, resulting in a huge congratulations to Thomas, who emerged as the winner, followed closely by Emma! After a final, well-deserved lunch, we headed back to school, leaving behind heaps of wonderful memories.

A Special Thank You to Our Stars! This successful camp would not have been possible without the incredible dedication of our staff and parent volunteers: a huge thank you to Mr Preddy for all his hard work and amazing organising; thank you to Ms McKay for coming along to provide moral support; and a massive shout-out to our "super parent helpers" Josh, Amy, Maree, and Stella! You are all stars!
