A part-time Laboratory Technician is required for The Catlins Area School. 5 hours per week, term-time only. Fixed Term until the end of Term 4.

The purpose of this position is to provide technical and administrative support to the Science Department, ensuring safe, efficient and effective operation of laboratories and resources.
Technical skill requirements or the ability to learn the following:

• Basic knowledge of scientific disciplines and familiarity with chemical handling, risk assessment and hazardous waste disposal.
• Ability to maintain laboratory equipment, knowing how to use, calibrate and make minor repairs to equipment.
• Knowledge of preparing chemical solutions, safe storage and labelling of substances, and maintaining of safety data sheets for chemicals.
• Proficiency with word processing and spreadsheets.
• Training will be provided for successful applicants.
