Year 7 Artists, creative minds at work

This term in art class, we’ve been focusing on developing our drawing skills through the use of texture, coloured pencil techniques, and shading. We’ve learned how to create realistic effects by layering colors, blending smoothly, and using different pencil pressures. By studying texture, we discovered how to make our drawings feel more life-like, whether it’s the rough surface of tree-bark or the soft fur of an animal.

We did a realistic still life piece where we created15 different  practice drawings and spent 2½ hours on our good drawing. There were two different stations you could draw  and millions of different angles. Another piece that we did was half a self portrait and the other half was filled with things to do with our personality. Mine had lots of different things to do with animals, instrumental notes and a guitar. We are now doing drawings on native animals and plants to New Zealand. My drawing is a fern with a fallen over branch and a black fantail.
