Swim, Splash, Repeat!

Swim, Splash, Repeat!

Wednesday saw a huge day of aquatic action for Swimming Sports!

The much-anticipated Swimming Sports event made a return to its usual spot in Term 1. It was a fantastic day filled with energy and enthusiasm, as the entire school from Years 0 to 13  came together to compete and celebrate swimming.

Students proudly represented their houses as they made their way to the pool. The event layout had a slight change this year, with the longer races 50m and 100m of Freestyle, Backstroke, Breaststroke, Butterfly, and the Individual Medley taking place first before the junior school arrived.

The junior school students impressed whānau by showcasing their skills with widths, boards, kicking, and creative ways of getting across the pool. Room 3 swam lengths, and soon after, the 25-metre races began. Students gave it their all, and it was so great to see swimmers of all abilities take on the challenge.

A highlight of the day was the house relay, with separate intermediate and senior teams. The crowd's roaring cheers made it clear this was the event to watch! Manuka claimed victory in the intermediate relay, with Nora in second and Surat in third. In the senior relay, Nora took the win, followed by Manuka and then Surat.

A huge thank you to Nat and Mrs. Cairns for your fantastic organisation and smooth running of the day. We’re also grateful to the students who helped with setup, swam alongside younger students, and encouraged their houses throughout the event.

Thank you to the Home & School team for your fabulous BBQ skills, and to our amazing timekeepers, starters and judges - Adele Dawkins, Maree Falconer, Mr. Bloxham, Nadine Perrin, Abby Brookland, and Kerri Nakajima. Your help and expertise were invaluable.

Results are being tallied, and winners, record-breakers, and the overall house champion will be announced at the first assembly of Term 2. Stay tuned!
