On Thursday 23 November and Friday 24th November, Room 3 had their overnight camp based at school. 

Thursday morning, bright and early, the students dropped their gear off in class, went over the camp expectations, then headed to Kaka Point, where we had a game of Stop Ball at the domain, then drove up to the lighthouse.  The weather was awful, so we made the decision to head back, stopping at Tunnel Hill on the way.  We had heard there may be glow-worms there, so in the middle of the tunnel we turned off our lights. Unfortunately there were no glow-worms to be seen so we carried on through the tunnel then headed back to school.  We had lunch then headed over to the pool for some fun before setting up our tents in the gym, while one group prepped dinner.  The other groups played 'Jump, Splat' in the gym.  Dinner was home-made burgers, (thanks Mr McDougall for cooking the barbecue!)  and ice cream sundaes made by the girls' group.  After dinner, we had a scavenger hunt then got ready for bed.  

In the morning, the breakfast crew helped prepare toast, cereal, fruit salad, and Ms Darmody’s famous porridge.  The clean up group tidied the food technology room and then we headed down to the Museum where Mr McPhee talked about the wreck of the Surat nearly 150 years ago.  The class had some interesting questions to ask, and Mr McPhee shared his vast knowledge with the students.  After our visit, we had lunch in the playground then returned to school to paint some rocks with Mrs Parker, which we hid on our last activity - the bushwalk in Pounawea.  

Some very tired students and adults were thankful for a wonderful 2 days but glad to go home to share their experiences with their families.

We would all like to thank Mr Diedrichs and Mrs McDougall for planning such a wonderful 2 days for the class to enjoy.  Thanks too, to Mrs Parker, Sam Dallas, Maree Falconer, Josh Cairns, Stella Smith, Amy Bradfield who helped out with transport and/or stayed overnight.  We really appreciate your involvement in making camp such a wonderful experience.

Thomas liked the Tunnel Hill walk because we got to turn our lights off in the middle of the tunnel to see if there were any glow-worms.  (They must have been away that day, we didn't see any.)

Harriet enjoyed preparing the dessert on Thursday night, and giving them to people. The desserts were fantastic!

Bailey’s favourite part of camp was playing Stop Ball at the Kaka Point domain, because he caught the ball and got Thomas out!

Tejas liked watching the movie Smallfoot before we got into our sleeping bags.

Carter really liked rock painting with Mrs Parker, and then hiding them on our bushwalk at Pounawea. 

Olive liked the rock painting activity on Friday, and hiding them on the bush walk.

Hunter liked the Tunnel Hill walk, and stopping in the middle to turn our torches off.

Danielle liked playing Jump, Slap on the massive gym mats on Thursday while waiting for dinner.

Theo really liked the museum visit where we learned about the wreck of the Surat nearly 150 years ago.

Lachlan’s favourite experience was visiting the Museum and learning about the shipwreck of the Surat.

Emma liked visiting the Museum and learning all about the Surat from Mr McPhee. 

Ella really liked rock painting on Friday.  She hid hers on the bushwalk in Pounawea.  

Declan’s favourite part of camp was sleeping in the tent.

Kayden enjoyed playing Jump, Slap on Thursday night in the gym.  

William’s favourite thing about camp was sleeping in the gym.

Camp at School.       

When we first got to camp we did some of our camp booklet. After that we got into cars and headed for Kaka Point. We stopped at a park and we played stop ball. Then we got to Kaka Point and we started to do the lighthouse walk. We only did about 100 meters cos it was pouring down with rain. So we did the tunnel walk. Then we went back to school and had lunch. Next we started to set up the tents. Next we had dinner and dessert. Before we went to bed we watched Smallfoot. Then we went to bed. In the morning we had breakfast and took down the tents. Later we painted and hid rocks. Then we went to the museum and had morning tea at the park. Then we did some stuff, then it was assembly and then we went home.

Lachlan's Camp Story.

On Thursday we arrived at school as usual. We were going to camp on Thursday and Friday. We hopped in cars and headed for Kaka Point. We stopped to play Stopball at Wilsher Bay park and Bailey caught Thomas out! Mr D told us we were going to the lighthouse walk but when we got there it was pouring with rain. We went to the tunnel walk and in the middle of the walk we turned our lights off . At the end of he walk Harriet got a big scare from Theo and Declan. When we got back we played Jump Slap on the mats and William won!!! I went to cook dinner and then we had wedges and burgers and then we went to bed and watched a movie called Smallfoot. The next day we did the museum and learnt about the Surat and then we played at the playground. After that we painted rocks and then we hid them in a bush walk and after that we did assembly.

On Thursday we went to camp. 

When we got to Room 3 we put our bags in Room 3, then we went in a van and went to Kaka Point, played Stopball and had morning tea then we went to the lighthouse walk.  When we got there we got our jackets on and started walking. When we got to the first look-out we saw a cave, and a tunnel then we went back because it was pouring with rain. Then we went back to school and set up the tents and then we went back to the classroom and did our camp booklet, then we went to the gym and got into our pj’s and Mr D put on a movie and we watched it for ages then we went to bed. It took me an hour to go to bed. In the morning we had breakfast then we went to the museum and the park then we had lunch, and we had a play then we went back to school. We packed the tents up and we packed our bags and went home.

Harriet's Camp Story

On Thursday I went to school because my class was on school camp. We were staying a night at school . It took ten minutes to set up the tents then we had dinner and for dinner we had home made burgers and wedges and for dessert was ice cream . Before it was time for bed we watched a movie. The movie was called Smallfoot. We were half way through the movie before bed. Also that morning we played stop ball. It's kind of like cricket. Our trip to the lighthouse failed so  we went to the tunnel walk then we went back to school.  We went to bed.  It took us girls 2 hours to get to sleep.

The next morning we had breakfast.  I had porridge with brown sugar.  Later we went to the Art room to paint rocks with Mrs Parker. Then we went to Pounawea to hide our rocks.  Then we went back to school.  We had some free time then we had assembly, then we went home.

November 23,24 at Camp

At camp we did Jump and Slap and we went to the tunnel walk. But my favorite was dinner & pudding. The thing that I didn't like was the lighthouse because it rained. We went to the pool we played & played we played dodgeball for ages . The next day on Friday we got up and dressed and then we went to get some brekky. I had weetbix. After breakfast we worked on our booklets then we had an early lunch.  After lunch we did rock painting and then we went to a walk in Pounawea.

On Thursday we went to camp we went to the lighthouse and it was rainy so  we decided to turn around so then we went to tunnel walk and  we got lollipops and then we went back to school and had lunch and then we went to the pool we played dodgeball  and then we afternoon tea after that we pitching tents  then a group when to set up tea the rest of us played jump slap then we had tea was hot then we had a scavenger hunt then we went to bed then we had breakfast after that we went to the museum we went to the played at the playground then we paint rock then we went to the Pounawea walk.
