Seniors delve into Wellington city for art, culture and politics!
Year 11-13 embarked on their 5 day camp to Wellington last week, immersing themselves in a blend of government proceedings, cultural heritage, and the vibrant arts scene. Read about how they explored the city in a jam-packed five days of adventure and learning, and what our seniors enjoyed most.
In Week 5 of this term, our Year 11, 12 and 13 students spent a week in the vibrant city of Wellington. This journey was not just a mere trip but a wonderful experience that enriched the minds and hearts of our young learners.
Wellington, being the capital city, offers an excellent opportunity for students to understand the workings of government. A visit to the Parliament Buildings provided an insight into the political machinery of the country. This was followed by a visit to Government House and the beautiful home of the Governor General with its rich history, beautiful artworks, and stunning grounds.
One of the highlights was a visit to Te Papa Tongarewa Museum, where students were exposed to New Zealand's varied history, indigenous heritage, and contemporary art scene. In addition, students visited Zealandia, attended the musical Wicked, caught up with Mr T, and toured Victoria University.
Beyond the educational aspects, the trip allowed students to form lasting bonds with their peers. Collaborative activities, shared experiences, and late-night discussions forged connections that will remain with them forever. The memories made and lessons learned will undoubtedly shape these young minds as they step forward into their academic and personal journeys.
A special thanks to Miss Currall, Mrs Hanley, and Sue Gordon for their support and guidance in Wellington.
