Empowering parents through a structured afternoon of literacy insights.
Alyssa McDougall shared her knowledge and passion for Structured Literacy with an informative afternoon session.
Last Wednesday afternoon TCAS parents attended our Structured Literacy Whānau information afternoon. It was fantastic to see whānau keen to learn information about Structured Literacy and how they can aid their learners at home. Whānau were first informed about the background of the science of reading and Structured Literacy and then how it is taught and implemented at TCAS. The session was full of practical advice and ideas, equipping everyone with actionable ideas to extend reading and writing beyond what is taught in the classroom.
Whānau also had the chance visit classrooms and then explore, read, and look at the resources and materials that are used in lessons.
Thank you to those who could make it to the afternoon and hopefully we will have another session this year. Be sure to keep a watchful eye on our weekly newsletter, where we'll be sprinkling in informative tidbits about the facts and benefits of Structured Literacy. Together, we're nurturing lifelong readers!
