Uniting for inspiration and achievement at our school assembly.
This term sees a focus on our new School Vision: 'Connect, Learn, Grow', as well as the 'TCAS Way'.
In weeks three and four we have been focussing on CARE. We have respect for ourselves and the diversity of everyone and everything around us. One value that stands out and holds immeasurable significance at TCAS is Care. TCAS believe that what truly sets a school apart and creates a nurturing environment is the culture of care that underpins every interaction between ākonga (students), kaiako (teachers & staff), whānau (family) and our hapori (community). We see examples of Care everyday in our school and our community and it has been awesome seeing so many ākonga show the Care value over these last two weeks.
The next two weeks we focus on the value of ACHIEVEMENT. We strive with integrity to achieve personal excellence. Ākonga were asked at assembly to think about how they can show the value of ACHIEVEMENT. over the next two weeks.
Weekly certificates were handed out for each room or year group for showing our school values. The recipients were Nelson Meyer and Makenzie Soar, Ava Sellars and Willow Smith, Danielle Twaddle and Theo Kristel, Patrick Harrison and Madison Reynolds, Hayden MacAulay and Sueloa Tyrell, Harry Walker and Flynn Lietze, and Alex Napier.
As a school we celebrated our two newest graduates of the Little Hoiho Buddy Programme. The Buddy Programme is offered to Year 7 & 8 students at school. These students go to Little Hoiho once a week in their lunchtime to connect, play and establish a connection with their paired buddy. Makenzie Soar received a certificate and book from her buddy Milly Lietze, and Harley Cullen received her certificate and book from her buddy Ruby Watt.
We also celebrated English achievement. Education Perfect ran their annual English competition two weeks ago. Students earned points by completing any English work on EP. TCAS came 122nd globally out of 1917 schools, and third overall for schools our size. A pretty impressive effort! The following students earned certificates from Education Perfect, Harrison Waaka - Credit certificate, Blair Munro - Credit certificate, Kaiyo Nakajima - Credit certificate, Yui Nakajima - Bronze certificate and Hayden MacAulay - Bronze certificate. Hayden was also our school’s top performer, congratulations!
Science badge is an initiative to get students interested in and working on a series of science activities. Students choose a badge from a total of 30 available, and then the student must complete relevant tasks (both practical and research based). The activities are designed for Years 7-10 and students demonstrate critical thinking, personal responsibility and time management, creativity, deepened scientific knowledge, problem solving and pride in achievement. Congratulations to Austin Morrison who was awarded his science badge in Zoology.
As a collective we celebrated the achievement of our cross-country place getters and the winning house group - Nora!! Congratulations to all our runners!
