Unleashing thrills and chills on our unforgettable ski trip!
So wonderful to have an amazing crew join us for our annual ski trip to Cardrona! This year many of us stayed as a group at Hāwea Hotel, where we were able to share Kai and have a great whānau catch up.
Unfortunately, in true Catlins ski trip style, the ski field was closed on the first day. Most of us made our way up the mounga only to find the wind was next level, and that none of us liked the look of the chairlifts swinging up high in the wind! As a repeat of last year, many of us enjoyed the trampoline park and the movies. (An unexpected Ken look-alike emerged from the movies, although he had farmer qualities that most Ken's wouldn't have!)
Our second day, in contrast with the day before, was much more calm, with the ra beaming down on us. Parents and teachers were most impressed with the TCAS values on display by all our students on this trip. Students took care of each other staying in groups and enjoying each other's company. True grit and tenacity was very evident, especially in our learner snowboarders and skiers. The improvement throughout the day was exciting to watch!
Next year's trip is locked in with Hāwea Hotel and Cardrona for the 1st and 2nd of August. For those who think this trip is for you, we can give more information around costs and equipment to help you best prepare.
