National Area School's Tournament in Rangiora!
Seven students spent the first week of the school holidays representing Southern Area Schools' in a Tournament in Rangiora.
Our seven students that were selected to play for nationals in Rangiora left a little early due to the weather forecast on their planned travel day. Corey Gilbert, Amelia Morrison, Margret Tyrell, Tafaitoa Tyrell, Kotaro Nagatsuka, Braydee Osborne, Jethro Melville and our teachers Mrs Cairns and Ms Hanley travelled to Oamaru on Saturday 1st of July and stayed at Heritage Court Motel. We then took off for Christchurch the next day as The Nationals Tournament was held in Rangiora. Combining with students from Lawrence, Twizel, Waiau, Roxburgh and Maniototo, the total of 47 students and 13 staff members from all southern area schools stayed at Glentui and were called 'South of the South'. All the chosen students have represented the South of the South with amazing sportsmanship and a lot of positive attitude both with the wins and even with the loses! They safely returned home on the 7th of July.
Congratulations to our NZAS South Island Representatives, Amelia Morrison - Football, Jethro Melville - Volleyball and Kotaro Nagatsuka- Basketball. These students all played in the combined South teams that played against North Island teams.
