Meet the Senior Leadership for 2023
Our senior leadership team (SLT) is made up of Glenys Hanley, Amanda Smith and Sarah Cairns. Find out a little more about them and their role within our kura.
Glenys Hanley
Glenys has spent the majority of her life living, working and thriving in rural communities. This started first as a cane farmer's daughter in far North Queensland, which was then followed as a consultant and teacher in rural New Zealand for the last twenty years.
Glenys has been our Principal for two years and absolutely loves her job and the community warmth that TCAS offers. When she isn't busy working at school (which is just about all the time) she enjoys spending time with her family and friends.
Amanda Smith
When Amanda’s husband had a job opportunity in South Otago 14 years ago it felt like coming home. Born and bred in South Otago Amanda is a true local.
Amanda’s role in 2023 is Deputy Principal of Teaching and Learning and Dean of Year 9 to 13. Also Amanda teaches English and Social Sciences to the secondary school. Amanda is always available if you have any questions about your child’s learning.
Sarah Cairns
Sarah moved back to the Owaka area with her husband Josh and their sons Lachlan and Darcy a few years ago and she really was coming home. She is extremely familiar with the area, as she grew up in the Catlins and also attended TCAS. Sarah loves to get involved and is all about positive outcomes for the community.
Sarah’s role in 2023 is Deputy Principal of Wellbeing and head of Learning Support. Sarah also teaches Health & PE and Te Reo Māori. Sarah is available if you have any questions about your child’s wellbeing.
