After blitzing our own school cross-country, 17 speedy students laced up again to represent TCAS at the South Otago Primary School Sports Association (SOPSSA) Cross Country Championships in Clinton on Wednesday. Just like our school event, the day started with the kind of chill that makes you wonder if gloves should be compulsory but the sun soon appeared, delivering a perfect afternoon for racing.
Our team of primary and intermediate runners gave it their all, showing grit, determination, and our school values every step of the way.
We’re especially proud to celebrate our top podium finishers: Emma Parkes stormed home to take 2nd in Year 5 Girls, Indie Parkes powered her way to 2nd in Year 7 Girls, Kayden Parkes ran into 3rd in Year 5 Boys, and Ryan Scoles took 3rd in Year 4 Boys. These runners proved that TCAS can definitely run fast and sometimes it runs in the family!
A big thank you goes to Nat Harrex for organising, encouraging and transporting our team, and to our dedicated parents for their support. Nat also sends a huge shout-out to the staff who helped train our runners for cross country throughout the term.
Finally, a special mention for our sideline photography crew Kerri Nakajima, Sam Dallas, and Dianna Sellars. Thanks for capturing the action so well you can almost feel the mud on your shoes just looking at the photos.
