TCAS Home and School Prime Lamb Competition 2025 was an absolute success. Find out who was able to have boasting privileges .
2025 marks the 18th year that the Prime Lamb Competition has been run by TCAS Home and School. The Catlins weather turned on an absolute stunner autumn day as the committee welcomed farmers, sponsors, donators and the community to the prizegiving afternoon.
Parents of the school kindly collected donated lambs from around the district in the morning, dropping them off periodically to Phil Sellars and Maree Falconer's yards in the Owaka Valley. The 61 donated lambs were then weighed, drafted, crutched and collected in pens for judging. We appreciated the judges Scott Young, Andy Keen and Tom Fraser (remotely) helping again this year, for the hard task of deciding the winners.
The Catlins Area School Home and School Committee again feel humbled for the generous support of the community. As a committee we have so many people that we would like to thank, for without their help the day would not have been successful. Thank you to our judges Scott, Andy and Tom. A huge thanks again to Phil and Maree for the use of their yards and woolshed. Thank you to our lamb collectors; Sam Landreth, Rhys Evans, Hamish McDougall, Simon Cullen, Craig & Rachel Napier, Nigel Harrison and Todd Rowland. Thank you to our countless generous sponsors for donating prizes. To our students who helped on the day and did a fantastic job of the BBQ. Lastly to our many local businesses, parents, caregivers and TCAS staff for their support of this year's competition.
